Civil Aviation Authority requires 50 hours total flight time for the issue of a PPL. Broken down this will comprises of: 30 hours of Dual flight time
20 hours of Solo flight time
Hire rates for the AA1-C trainer: $177 (solo) per hour
Instructor: $50 per hour
To obtain a licence there are additional costs involved which include the following approximations:
Exam Fees (6 theory exams) $ 540.00
Medical/Licence fees $ 200.00
Books/Manuals $ 281.50
Theory Course $ 900.00
Membership $ 265.00
From experience, we estimate that, from ab-initio through to Private Pilots Licence, will cost you approximately $16,000-$18,000 However, we don't require this in a lump sum. Each lesson is paid for as it is completed, with the first lessons taking about 50 minutes and cost around $180.00 - $200.00.
